Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Gutsan is on a working visit to St. Petersburg, where he arrived to participate in the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

Aleksandr Gutsan's program began with international meetings. The discussions focused on strengthening interagency contacts in areas of mutual interest. The talks will continue tomorrow.

In the afternoon, the Prosecutor General of Russia will attend the Plenary Session of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum 2026 with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

During the meeting with Minister of Law of Indonesia Supratman Andi Agtas, the head of the Russian supervisory agency drew attention to the expansion of trade, economic, and humanitarian ties, as well as the strengthening of cooperation on international platforms.

"Our countries are bound by many years of friendship based on mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests," stated Prosecutor General.

He noted that a new stage in the development of bilateral relations was the adoption by the leaders of the two states in June of last year of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership. This document expanded the possibilities for in-depth cooperation on a number of issues.

The Prosecutor General of Russia drew attention to the significant potential for the development of legal communication between the agencies, including for the purpose of addressing common tasks of upholding the rule of law and countering transnational crime.

Aleksandr Gutsan also informed his Indonesian colleague about the research and educational activities of the University of the Prosecutor's Office of Russia and invited him to engage in joint work in this area.

The head of the Russian supervisory agency proposed that the meeting be regarded as a starting point for further productive cooperation on all matters of mutual interest.

Having expressed readiness to discuss additional formats of interaction, the Parties signed a Cooperation Agreement.

Opening the meeting with Minister of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye Akın Gürlek, Aleksandr Gutsan stated that relations between the two countries are developing in a positive direction, and repeated external efforts to undermine this progress have been unsuccessful.

"The foundation of the Russian-Turkish dialogue is the consideration of each other's interests, trust and mutual respect, achieved through the consistent decisions and actions of our leaders — President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan," emphasized the Prosecutor General of Russia.

He noted that on this basis, partnership is expanding in a wide range of sectors — trade, energy, tourism and others: "Contacts are also strengthening in the areas of law enforcement and justice."

The outcome of the meeting was the signing of the third Cooperation Program. The activities provided for by the document are aimed at harmonizing legal approaches to certain extradition issues and conducting a substantive analysis of legislative regulation of the use of artificial intelligence.

The Prosecutor General of Russia, welcoming Minister of Justice of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Soueidatt, noted that this meeting is a continuation of the constructive dialogue established at the level of the Heads of State.

"Despite the geographical distance between our countries, we face common tasks in countering cross-border threats. These include terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, illicit drug and arms trafficking, money laundering, and others," said Aleksandr Gutsan. "An effective response to them requires the consolidation of law enforcement efforts."

An important outcome of the talks was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which, according to Aleksandr Gutsan, will serve as a foundation for addressing joint tasks and will contribute to the strengthening of working contacts.

The Prosecutor General of Russia expressed confidence that the document will serve as a basis for developing cooperation in the research and educational sphere.
