Prosecutor General of Russia and Director of Public Prosecutions of the Republic of Kenya Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Today at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Gutsan held a meeting with Renson M. Ingonga, Director of Public Prosecutions of the Republic of Kenya. The discussions focused on key aspects of Russian-Kenyan interagency cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to combating transnational crime, including joint efforts to trace, seize, and repatriate criminal proceeds from abroad. In this context, the Prosecutor General noted the usefulness of the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network for Eastern Africa, where the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia recently obtained observer status.

Emphasizing the importance of partnership with African states, the head of the Russian supervisory agency proposed developing contacts on matters of mutual interest within the framework of the Russia-Africa Summit.

The significance of cooperation with the Africa Prosecutors Association, chaired by the Kenyan counterpart, was also highlighted.

As a promising area of cooperation, both sides identified training and professional development of prosecutorial staff at the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
