At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia are extraditing Roman Yuryev for him to face criminal charges under Article 228.1, Part 4, sub‑paragraph "d" (illicit production of psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, Yuryev established an underground chemical laboratory in Voronezh. In June 2023, using special equipment and the necessary precursors, the accused illicitly produced a psychotropic substance on a large scale.
Since the accused fled from the preliminary investigation authorities, a preventive measure of detention was imposed on him in absentia. At the instruction of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, he was placed on the international wanted list.
A request for Yuryev's extradition was sent following his detention in Serbia.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Russian supervisory authority and its foreign counterparts, a positive decision on extradition was secured.
He will be escorted to Russia by officers of the NCB of INTERPOL of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service.
