At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Georgia have extradited Maxim Shcherbakov for the purpose of his criminal prosecution under Article 30, Part 3, Article 105, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder).

According to investigators, a conflict arose between Shcherbakov and an acquaintance in August 2024, during which the accused decided to kill the victim. To that end, the resident of the Stavropol Territory inflicted several stab wounds to the victim's head. The murder was not carried out to completion, as the victim received timely medical assistance.

Given that Shcherbakov had fled, a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention was imposed on him in absentia. On the instruction of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, he was placed on the international wanted list.

The extradition request for Shcherbakov was submitted following his detention in Georgia.

Through the efforts of the Russian supervisory agency, a positive decision on extradition was obtained.
